Last blog and revisiting presentation blog prompt.

I didn't have any real fears, more just nervousness because I did not know what to expect from the whole thing and it was very odd to speak to someone who was not in the room but in another state, and you didn't know what or if they were listening or could hear you. I watch my presentation and it was odd watching myself speak. Next time I think that I would hope to know more as to what they expect, so that I can better prepare myself and do well.
This is my last blog and my last Globaloria, at least for this year. I have learned a lot and learned how to speak more comfortably in front or people, or at least in front of a camera. I also learned a lot of computer skills and started to get a role with the learning logs and blogs. That is IT!!!

This whole year has been an experience, a good experience that is! I have learned a lot and had a lot of experiences that I would otherwise not have been fortunate to have if I hadn't joined this class. I first transferred to this school after having been home schooled and then I transferred to this class after having been in a class which I did not need to be in any more. My first impression was not an impression because I did not know what I was getting into, I had not been well informed as to what the class was about because their are few other classmates that participate in these classes.
But with it all said and done I have enjoyed this class quite a lot and am glad that I was able to experience it, and know what Globaloria is so that I can spread the word so that next year their are still lots of classes. And that's that I guess! See ya next and final class. Oh yea and I uploaded my Vlog today.

Vlog on game presentation.

Vlog

Today I videoed my Vlog and I am going to upload it soon. The Vlog was good and it brought up some good topics and I think that I gave some good answers as well. Next class I am going to try and work on the game (by myself because my team partner is a senior and is leaving) and I hope to get some stuff accomplished so that more is done when we leave the game looks good.

Survey+Time=Finished

Today I took the final survey. It was good there were some very good questions that I encountered and they really made me thinks twice before I gave an answer. The survey was pretty easy though, now that it is all said and done, and there were no wrong answers so I am sure that did well. They had good questions especially at the end where they asked questions about your future. And my having taken this class raised so new thoughts as to what I want to do in the future. So that's that! This year is almost over which leads to the end of this class and onward to the summer.

Bogabilities

So today I worked on getting an image uploaded to represent the game. I also worked some on getting the questions answered for the vlog that we have to do next class, concerning the game presentation and design. Next class we are going to do the final survey and then spend the rest of our time(3-4classes) on the completion of the game.That just about sums it up !!! Its time to finish up!

Blog 5-17-11

Today I worked in flash trying to fix up some coding issues and also on our team page, making sure that all of the desired information is present.
Last class we gave our game presentations to our peers in New York and else where. We also presented it some kids here in school and as far as I can tell they liked it quite a bit, as do I. It is almost the end of the school year, which means time to finish up our games and that is exactly what we are doing, trying desperately to finish up of the little problems that we have encountered and then also male it look good. So thats that, we are almost there, to the completion.

Last class

I was so tied up in trying to get the game finished that I didn't get enough time to blog. So here it goes, time to get it on so that it ready to present. I worked the entire period on the game and now it will be presentable on time. All class i worked in flash and online looking up code.

The game is ready to be presented and we are going to come back a little later so that we have enough time film it before we go home. Then next class we are going to try and tidy up our game so that by the end of the school year we are going to have an awesome, complete game to end the year with. So that's that, time for presentation.

Help!!

Today as I was stumbling throuh Flash on of our Fellow teachers came in and gave us some serious help in the coding of our game which makes alot more sense and makes it easier to think about doing and makes it look alot more fesiable. Next class I will put the info to use that I learned today.

Dragging and Dropping

Today i worked on figuring out how to use drag and drop coding in flash and once I had that finalized I started on the long journey of trying to figure out how to make a target work so that when the object recieveing the dragging ends up in the desired location that it will then stay locked in. Next class I will work on finishing up and then applying it to my game.

That's what I did today , was researched how to do drag and drops with a target and hopefully scoring in the near future. We are getting our game together and are starting into the real crunch time of our game so that we will be able to get our game done in time to submit it for the competition. so yep thats it!!

Flash

Today I worked in Flash all day on the sound tutorial which took quite a while but it looks very good and works well. I did a car sound and if you click on it several times then you it sounds like a car chase!

Today and Game Demo Blog

Over all I do not think I that I really learned more about the topic while doing, a the Game Demo, although I did learn more about, and thought about, how we are going to be able to make the game work with the limited Flash time and experience that we have (no offence Akantor Killer). Over all I think that the journalist and so have done very well and that at least most information needed was readily available to me, although some times it was less available then convenient or expected.
I believe that I have taken the learning into my own hands by not letting problems drag me down, but taking them on and figuring out what the answer is and then fixing it, while most other kids let I bogg them down until eventually they can no longer do anything. And I will will continue on with this, and I will succeed.     

Today I checked out the Game Demos and bits of games that I could find from other classes and schools in the surrounding area.  I saw several very cool games, or at least game ideas in both, the other class here at GEHS and also at Liberty High. Next class period I will do the Vlog having to do with the Game Demo and then may be do some Flash, and once that is done then I will indulge in five days of spring break.

Team Page and Video Viewing

Today I worked on making our team page look a lot better. I also had the privilege of viewing my and my class mates game demo videos which are all very good. We as a class are making some very good games which are very learn able and easy to understand as well as very fun to play.  Next time I will work more on the game so that we leave ourselves plenty of time to finish our game. So that it is as good as we have imagined it to be.  May our game be AWESOME!!!!!

Game Demo Filming!!

Today my partner and I filmed our Game Demo after finishing a few minor problems related to coding and layer layering. We successfully filmed it are going to upload it as soon as possible and then we will have successfully met our dead like and it is good to because otherwise we probably stay after school and film it. Next class we are going to start on the home run with our game. That should be fun and we will be able to finish it up and contine on our way.

Game Demo and then more Game Demo!!

Today we worked on finishing up the Game Demo and looks pretty good and then will up load it and then do the filming of it shortly. It is very well done and looks good! Today we are also doing a school activity where we walk on the track and are sponsored to raise money for various clubs and organizations around the school.  So that should be fun and a good way to wrap up the day, finishing the game demo and then going for a nice long walk. Oh yeah, and I am starting to get pretty good at Flash!

Blog 4-5-11

Today I worked extensively on our Game Demo and it is starting to come together and is looking very good. Today I worked mostly on adding cool nick nacks to tie it all together and make it less like a boring Demo but have some bling to go along with it.  Well anyway next time I am going to try to finish up the Demo so that we will be ready to go, and be able to complete it in time for the Game Demo dead line.

Flashy Demo!!!!

Get it? Flash, Demo? Well anyway, today was great, I worked in Flash on our game demo while my team partner worked on coding. I, we have made great progress so far and are still making head way every day.
Our game is awesome! And will be for a long time to come. Pretty soon you will be able to see our "flashy" Flash Game Demo.Well anyway have a good weekend. 

Blog 3-30-11

Today I worked a lot in flash and learned how to make things move with the mouse and I also reviewed a cool game.  I looked at a game having to do with the Peace Corps, it showed how to be in the Peace Corps and what you could do in the Peace Corps. Do I like working in Flash? Well that is quite a question to be asking, and the answer is simple yes. That is an overall average rather then an everyday constant.  My feelings towards flash vary from class period to class period and is dependent on how much I accomplished that day and how well I understood flash. For me I can find myself deeply stuck in flash, although I always manage to get out, because I do not think in the same way as flash does. But as just said I have never gotten so deeply lost that I cannot free myself, even with the help from my classmates. I am getting better at understanding Flash as well as being able to think in the same way as it does. Flash is pretty cool when you actually think about its abilities.  
That pretty much sums it up!!!!

Blog 3-24-11

Today's class flew by, leaving very little time. I worked in Flash on Key board Input, trying to get a ladybug to move around with the arrow keys.  I worked on it and had some difficulties with it but am sure that I will get it next time. I am going to have to start more into the game next time and then we will be on our way to success.

Blog 3-16, 18, and 22

The last couple of classes I have been working on different things in flash. I have learned more about buttons and am currently working on key board controls. These weeks are getting more and more fun and I am getting to know more about what I need to know.  Its kind of short and sweet and next  time I will go more into detail.

Today!!! 3-14-11

Today was good, we had a bit of computer trouble but in the end had it all worked out. I worked on catching up with blogs and watched some videos on key board input and buttons. This will help me so that I am well educated about those things and am able to add buttons more quickly and so on. So that when we start into "Crunch Time" with our game I am well and ready.

Adding scenes blog.

I am using bright colors to create a happy looking game and very nice graphics to keep the player from thinking that the game is ugly.  Ayiti: The Cost of life: is a good example of story telling because in that game used the current events in Haiti, and made a game about how to stay financially healthy and how the overall life is very different from country to country.  Other games have helped in giving good ideas on how to go about teaching and navigating the player through the game.

Since I have started this course I have learned that their is a lot more to flash than I had thought. I also learned about how much harder it is to make something happen in Flash when it seems so easy in my head. The sources that I used which were helpful were my classmates because for most of them this is there second or third year in Globaloria. These news and research sources are especially informative because they are readily available. What makes them trustworthy is the fact that all of the information seems to work well and quickly.

Win and lose pages.

Today I worked on the win and lose pages for my game, in Flash.  They both look very good and nice and are definitly very different, which is good because one is good because you won and the other is pretty horrible looking. Which is good becasue you lost, and the object of the game is to save the world so when you lose it is not going to look good.

Addind scenes blog topic.

How are we using visual storytelling? Well that is a good question! We are using alot of awesome graphics so that it is pretty much completely self explanitory, although we do have a letter and page of text if the player needs to know what do incase of anything that way be the tiniest bit unclear.  One of the games that I played in Playing to Learn had very good grahics, The Cost of Life, which used good topics and was a very benificial game to me in making our game.  Today I mostly worked on adding information to our team page.

Tweens and Flash like it!!!

I haven't had enough time in the past classes to write a blog because this class just seems to fly!!  Today I worked on some things related tweens and got to experiment with a line jumping around the screen it was very interesting. Tweens are definitely a life saver when it comes to making something change location or size in a fluid way.  Now all I that I need to do is do some more flash related things so that next class when we have our flash professional again, I have some good questions to ask so that I am ready to receive the help that I need.

Today we had some professional Flash help and it was very benificial and next time I know exactly what tp do when we come back.  Now we just need more time for Flash.

Action script in my game.

While making the game we are going to need to know how to do several things in flash.  We are going to need to know how to make money count down as the appropriate movements (or unit is) are being made or placed..  We are going to need to know how to make an object lock into place and not be able to move until the game is restarted. We are going to need to have select place on which the units can be placed and then the appropriate amount of money deducted and bar on the bottom increased.

Today I worked in flash on the guide page which is what tells the player some extra facts about what they are playing with.  The guide page give additionall information the different types of enrgy genration, it gives the cost, the efficiency, and output.

Blog 1-24-11 and Vlog.

We have not been able to get into blogger for a couple of classes, so this blog is a little late.  On 1-24-11 I made an awesome hand in Flash as well as the letter telling about what role you as the player play in this game.  This game is far from done although it seems as though it is coming together already. Everything is going really well, and we seem to work well as a group and are making great progress.  Since I have started this course I have learned a great deal about alternative energy. I learned this by researching on wikipedia, which is said to be trustworthy and and is used by lots and lots of people, thus making me believe that it is safe.

I'm back!!!!

Today I did the mid-survey which was very good, and had some interesting questions. Now we will finish off with the Papeprototype so that next week we can video ourselves.
